The link weight from the homepage enhances trust for commercial pages.

Most websites with 1000 backlinks still linger on the third page of search results for commercial queries — it’s not about the volume of links, but the distribution of authority.

The homepage takes (https://x.com/noelcetaSEO/status/2041946689670406267) 80% of the link weight.

Money pages get nothing.

Backlinks come to the entry point but never reach the revenue-generating pages.

Link weight (PageRank) flows through internal linking based on four factors: number of links on the source (more = weight diluted), position (higher in the code = stronger), relevance (in context = more weight), authority of the source (DR 65 > DR 15).

Strategic internal linking = strategic trust distribution.

The framework includes precise steps across six areas:

  1. Conduct a link weight audit (`Ahrefs`) — check which pages gather the most backlinks and internal links, review the overall distribution across the site, and identify orphan pages. For most websites: 80% is on the homepage, 20% is spread across other URLs.
  2. Define priority goals: commercial keywords, revenue generators, high-frequency queries, positions from 11 to 30 (opportunity zone).
  3. Develop a hub architecture — main hubs (pillars) link to cluster pages (supporting content), which link back to the hubs, creating a trust flow loop.
  4. Configure strategic internal linking: add links to products directly from the homepage (direct authority transfer to money pages), place contextual links from traffic blogs to key URLs, gather resource pages with links to priority sections, use breadcrumbs for hierarchical weight transfer, link important categories from the footer.
  5. Cut off weight leaks: remove links to junk pages (author bios, tags), trim bloated link blocks in the footer (dilute weight), clean up navigation (50+ menu items), fix broken internal links, break redirect chains, stop using `NoFollow` on important internal links.
  6. Monitor quarterly: track the distribution of internal `PageRank` (via `Screaming Frog`), monitor the ranking growth of target pages, organic traffic by tiers, authority concentration versus distribution, check orphan pages.

`SaaS` client proves the mechanics.

Product pages were stuck at the bottom of the search results, despite commercial intent.

Implementation: moved product links to the homepage, created a hub comparison with links to all products, added contextual links from the blog, created a solutions hub.

Result after 90 days: product pages rose an average of 12 positions, organic revenue increased by $340K.

  • Linking formula: high-trust page → high-priority target page = maximum boost.
  • Homepage (DR 65) → pricing page gives a powerful push.
  • Random blog post (DR 15) → pricing page has zero effect.
  • Always link from the strongest pages to commercial hubs.

Advanced tactic: distribution of link dynamics.

  • You can’t just place a link and forget it.
  • Regularly roll out fresh content; always link to 3–5 target pages within each article.
  • Mix the anchor list naturally.
  • Link strictly by context (only in relevant sections).
  • Go back to old posts and add fresh internal links to key pages.
  • Constant weight influx generates compound interest.

The distribution of anchors should look natural:

  • exact match 10% (“`SEO tools`”),
  • partial match 30% (“`best SEO tools for agencies`”),
  • branded 20% (“`our SEO software`”),
  • generic 20% (“`check this out`”),
  • no anchor link 20% (clean URLs).

Common mistakes to clean up: linking only from the sidebar/footer (zero weight in context), `NoFollow` on important category pages, deep internal linking without a clear plan, overloading one page with links (dilutes each), lack of new links after content updates, ignoring orphan pages.
